Mayor Ballard welcomed the new Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office
Mayor Ballard welcomed the new Director General Mr. Baushuan Ger of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Chicago to Indianapolis.
Taiwan and State of Indiana have established sister-states relation since 1979. And, the Taipei City and Indianapolis established sister-city in 1978. Over the past decades, the relationships between Taiwan and Indiana become closer and stronger. Taiwan enjoys the supports and friendship by the people and governments of Indiana and Indianapolis.
Mr. Baushuan Ger has assumed his new assignment, since November 2011, as the new chief of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago, the representation of the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the Mid-West region. Mr. Ger is committed to enhance the relations, including cultural, economic and trade, between Taiwan and the Mid-West region. The objective of Mr. Ger’s visit to Indiana was to call on the representatives and officials of the Indiana State and Indianapolis City governments, and friends in the State General Assembly, to exchange views and discuss matters of mutual interests and concerns.
During Mr. Ger’s trip to Indiana he also met with Governor Daniels, and the representative of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. In addition, he met with Secretary of State Mr. Jerold Bonnet and leaders of the local Taiwanese Communities in Indianapolis.
