(English) 3 Indiana Teams Made Sweet 16
By Dan Russell
The state of Indiana is finally showing some basketball muscle after seeming to leave Butler to carry the load for the past 2 years. This year Butler didn’t make the tournament, but Indiana, Purdue and Notre Dame all were selected. Notre Dame lost its 1st game to Xavier and Purdue had a heartbreaking loss in the round of 32 to 2nd seed Kansas. Purdue played with amazing determination
and only lost in the last minute after leading the entire game.
Indiana reached the Sweet 16 by knocking off a feisty Virginia Commonwealth team that went to the Final Four just last year. IU gets a rematch with #1 ranked Kentucky who they met earlier in the year and Indiana gave them their 1st of only 2 losses on a last second shot by Christian Watford. They play tonight. Besides Indiana the Big Ten placed 5 other teams in the tournament and Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin also reached the Sweet 16.
